What Is Big Beach?
Big Beach is a way of bringing the coast to inner-city communities. From 16th to 30th August 2024, the area next to Watford Central Library is being transformed into a lively, sun-soaked (fingers crossed!) beach where families, friends, and individuals of all ages can enjoy a classic seaside experience. And the best part? It’s completely free!
What’s at the Beach?
At Big Beach, there’s something for everyone; offering a variety of activities to ensure that every visitor, young or old, can make the most of their beach day. From beach games to a giant colouring wall, our daily activities are designed to entertain and engage.
But that’s not all. A great beach day needs the right equipment, so the beach hut is stocked with everything you might need! Open from 10am to 4pm each day, the hut offers buckets, spades, and deckchairs for free. Whether you’re building an epic sandcastle or just digging your toes into the sand, you’re covered.
Need some information or assistance? The beach hut doubles as an info centre, ready to help you make the most of your day. And if you’re feeling peckish, you’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks, or explore the nearby eateries that offer a wide range of options.
